DOWNSVILLE, N.Y. — A traffic stop in the town of Downsville led to the seizure of more than 100 grams of cocaine and more than 60 grams of methamphetamine, according to New York State Police.
State Police said members of Troop C’s Violent Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team and Community Stabilization Unit stopped a 2024 Tesla on State Route 206 on June 27 after observing vehicle and traffic law violations.
During the investigation, troopers seized approximately 109 grams of cocaine, approximately 66 grams of methamphetamine, two cell phones and an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, police said.
The driver, Maurice S. Stewart, was arrested and charged with second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class A-II felony, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Class B felonies, for allegedly possessing cocaine and methamphetamine with intent to sell.
Stewart was processed by the New York State Police and transported to the Delaware County Jail for centralized arraignment.
