LIBERTY, N.Y. (AP) — Sullivan County residents who volunteer with a Sullivan 180-funded project can now apply for scholarships to help pay for undergraduate education through the organization’s 2026 scholarship program.
The scholarships recognize volunteer efforts that support Sullivan 180’s mission of building a healthier community through people, places and policy, with a focus on prevention and creating a healthier generation.
Volunteer opportunities are available through organizations and communities participating in the 2026 Sullivan 180 grant program. Projects may include gardening, community beautification, maintaining public spaces, documenting projects, outreach and fundraising.
The scholarships are funded through a donor-advised fund established by Sullivan 180 at the Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan and Rockland. A limited number of scholarships will be awarded to eligible Sullivan County residents pursuing undergraduate studies.
Applications are due Aug. 25 and must be submitted electronically through the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan’s online application portal.
Applicants are required to submit a personal essay describing their volunteer experience, a letter of recommendation from the project leader, a letter of recommendation from a community member or other non-relative, and photos documenting their volunteer work.
Scholarship recipients will be announced in September. Awards will be applied toward the recipients’ 2027 spring semester at the undergraduate college of their choice.
