Monticello, NY – The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce has named Matthew Sush as its next President and CEO, with his appointment taking effect February 2, 2026.
Sush is a lifelong Sullivan County resident with longstanding ties to the region’s business and civic communities. Most recently, he served as a Business Relationship Officer at Jeff Bank, where he worked with local businesses on relationship management, partnership development, and client service. His career has focused on supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening community-based businesses throughout the county.
He holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from SUNY’s College of Environmental Science and Forestry in Syracuse and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Sullivan County Community College. A graduate of Monticello High School, Sush has also completed the Center for Financial Training’s Universal Banker Certificate, participated in the Sullivan County Chamber Foundation’s Leadership Sullivan program, and graduated from Jeff Bank’s in-house leadership development program, JBLead.
In 2021, Sush received the Sullivan County Young Emerging Leader Award at the Chamber’s Pride Awards Gala. His community service includes roles as Treasurer of the Liberty Rotary Club, Board Member of the Sullivan County Chamber Foundation, Chair of the Town of Thompson Planning Board, and leadership positions with the SullivanARC Foundation and Sullivan County’s Young Emerging Leaders initiative.
Sush said his connection to the county and its business community will guide his leadership.
“I care deeply about this community, I understand the responsibility of this role, and I’m ready to lead the Chamber with integrity, collaboration, and long-term stability,” said Matthew Sush, President of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce. “Sullivan County is home for me. I grew up in a family of educators and small business owners, and I’ve spent my career working alongside local entrepreneurs. The Chamber is in a healthy position with strong community support. My role is to provide steady leadership, build on that foundation, and help guide the organization toward long-term growth and greater impact for our members.”
Sush noted that his initial focus will be on listening and collaboration, working closely with Chamber staff, the Board of Directors, consultants, and community partners as he transitions into the role.
Chamber leadership says Sush’s local roots and professional background made him a strong choice to lead the organization.
“On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are thrilled to welcome Matthew Sush as President and CEO of the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce. Matthew brings a rare combination of professional expertise, deep local roots, and genuine care for this community. He understands Sullivan County because he has lived it, learned from it, and worked alongside the people who power it. The Board is confident in his ability to provide steady leadership, strengthen partnerships, and guide the Chamber into its next chapter with clarity, integrity, and purpose,” said Keith Edwards, Co-Chair, Board of Directors.
Sush lives in Sullivan County with his wife, Jennie, their son, Arlo, and their two dogs.
