The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce is continuing its work to support local businesses through networking events, ribbon cuttings, and training opportunities, according to President and CEO Matthew Sush.
Sush said the chamber’s monthly breakfast meetings remain a key way for members to connect, share ideas, and promote their services.
“It’s a chance for businesses to meet and greet with other businesses… learn things that other businesses are doing… and be able to potentially sell some of the things that they do,” Sush said.
The most recent breakfast was held at the Regional Food Bank of the Hudson Valley in Montgomery, where members also learned about food insecurity and the organization’s impact. The food bank serves about 350,000 people each month and distributes roughly 2 million pounds of food into Sullivan County annually.
The chamber is also continuing to promote business activity across the county. A ribbon cutting is planned for Bobcat of Monticello as part of its grand opening, which will include demonstrations, raffles, and community events.
Sush noted that ribbon cuttings are available to any chamber member, whether celebrating a new business, an expansion, or a milestone, and can help bring visibility and foot traffic.
Upcoming events include an Earth Day networking mixer, “Networking in Bloom,” at Benji & Jake’s, along with a ribbon cutting for Bethel Sanitation. The chamber is also offering a virtual “Lunch and Learn” on April 20 as part of its training and development efforts.
Sush said the chamber’s goal is to continue creating opportunities for businesses to connect and grow across Sullivan County.
