MONTICELLO, NY – Commercial haulers will have expanded access to the Sullivan County Transfer Station in Monticello starting June 2, 2025. The scale at the facility will see increased operating hours to better serve these businesses, according to a press release from Sullivan County.
The new schedule will see the scale open for inbound traffic Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a hand-unloading deadline of 3 p.m. On Saturdays, the scale will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., accepting bags until 1 p.m.
District 7 Legislator Joe Perrello, chair of the Legislature’s Public Works Committee, says private waste haulers need increased access to the main transfer station, which is becoming a reality. “We’ll be staffing our scale in Monticello a full hour-and-a-half longer Mondays through Fridays, and 45 minutes more on Saturdays.”
The change in hours aims to address the needs of commercial waste haulers who utilize the facility. For details, contact Kassie Thelman, Recycling Coordinator, at Kassie.thelman@sullivanny.gov or 845-807-0291.
