Gael Roots Community Farm is accepting applications for two paid summer internships for high school students in the Rockland Central School District.
The internships are open to students from Livingston Manor and Roscoe who are interested in agriculture, environmental science, food systems or community building, according to a news release from the farm. The application deadline is May 29.
The approximately seven-week program offers students hands-on experience in farming, animal husbandry, vegetable growing, food production, operating a farm stand and sustainability practices. Interns will work about eight to 10 hours per week.
The program is supported by the Lazare and Charlotte Kaplan Foundation and managed by the Community Foundation of Orange, Sullivan and Rockland Counties.
Gael Roots Community Farm is a 150-acre farm in the Catskills focused on farming education, community food access and sustainable agriculture.
