MONTICELLO, N.Y. — The Sullivan County Recruitment and Retention Task Force is inviting residents to explore volunteer opportunities with local fire departments during a series of open houses scheduled for April 18 and 19 as part of the statewide RecruitNY campaign.
Officials say the effort, branded “Join Sullivan Fire,” aims to bolster membership across departments countywide.
“Our recruitment effort, ‘Join Sullivan Fire,’ is always looking for more people to take part,” Sullivan County Fire Coordinator John Hauschild said in a statement. “Local volunteer fire departments are in need of scene support personnel, interior firefighters, fire police, auxiliary members, apparatus operators and much more.”
Participating departments will open their doors to the public, offering information about training, equipment and ways to get involved in the fire service.
Open houses are scheduled as follows:
- Forestburgh Fire Department — Saturday, April 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2539 State Route 42, Forestburgh
- Grahamsville Fire Department — Saturday, April 18, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., 205 Main Street, Grahamsville
