MONTICELLO, N.Y. — Sullivan County will offer two free workshops next month aimed at helping municipalities, small businesses and nonprofit organizations prepare for grant funding opportunities.
The Sullivan County Department of Grants Administration will host the Grant Project Planning Workshops on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Legislative Hearing Room on the second floor of the Sullivan County Government Center at 100 North St. in Monticello.
The workshops will be offered at two times, from 9 to 10 a.m. and from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., to accommodate different schedules.
Arthur Hussey, director of Sullivan County Grants Administration, said organizations that may be eligible for federal, state or private charitable grants can find themselves unprepared when funding opportunities become available.
“Money may not grow on trees, but you can better equip your non-profit, small business, or municipality to obtain grant funding,” Hussey said.
The workshops will provide a high-level introduction to the steps involved in thorough project planning. County officials said the sessions are intended to help organizations become “grant-ready” by establishing effective project plans before grant opportunities arise.
“There are time-tested methods of approaching project planning to set an organization up for success,” Hussey said. “And we’re here to help in that regard.”
The workshops are designed for municipal leaders, for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Pre-registration is requested, although participants can attend whichever of the two sessions best fits their schedules.

The Department of Grants Administration serves divisions, departments, agencies and other units of Sullivan County government. The department does not write grants on behalf of outside organizations, but provides grant-related resource information through public workshops and the county website.
