Two Sullivan County community projects focused on recreation and wellness have received major funding through Sullivan 180’s 2026 Community Impact Grant program.
The Sullivan West Central School District was awarded the 2026 Golden Feather Community Impact Grant, receiving $125,000 to renovate and improve Lions Field in Jeffersonville. The facility serves youth, families and residents throughout the greater Sullivan West community.
Grant funding will support upgrades to pickleball and basketball courts, installation of exercise equipment, development of a walking path, and improvements to concessions and seating areas.
“The Lions Field holds generations of memories for our community, and this project gives us the opportunity to honor that history while creating something even stronger for the future,” Sullivan West Superintendent Kathleen Bressler said in a statement.
“These renovations will provide a safe, welcoming and vibrant space where children can play, families can gather, and community connections can grow. This grant funding will help to create new opportunities for health, wellness, recreation, and connection that will positively impact students, families and community members for years to come.”
The Town of Thompson received the 2026 Silver Feather Community Impact Grant, totaling $100,000, to install new playground equipment at Lake Ida Park in Rock Hill. The project is intended to serve youth of all ages and abilities and expand recreational opportunities at the park.
“Thank you so much for this generous award, which will be instrumental in helping us advance our project goals this year,” Town of Thompson Supervisor Scott Mace said in a statement. “The Town is grateful for the continued support from Sullivan 180 to further build out our parks and provide amazing amenities and experiences to all of our residents and visitors.”
According to Sullivan 180, the Lake Ida Park project will enhance one of the community’s key recreational assets by creating additional opportunities for outdoor play, physical activity and family recreation.
Sullivan 180 works to promote healthier communities through initiatives focused on people, places and policy.
