SUNY Sullivan in Loch Sheldrake, NY will hold a memorial service honoring Professor Emeritus Thomas J. Lambert on May 2 at 1 p.m. The service will be held on the SUNY Sullivan campus and is open to the public.
Professor Lambert, who passed away recently, dedicated 43 years of his life to SUNY Sullivan, leaving an enduring mark on the institution and its students. He was known for his passion for education, his empathy, and his unwavering commitment to his students. During his long career, he taught approximately 15,000 students.
Lambert began teaching at SUNY Sullivan after leaving the Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio. SUNY Sullivan’s mission to “educate, inspire, and empower” students attracted him. Aligning with his values, he embraced his role wholeheartedly and quickly became a beloved figure on campus. In 2016, he became Professor Emeritus, honored by the New York State Senate for decades of dedicated service.
“As a former student, Professor Lambert had a profound impact on me,” said Jason Kaplan, Interim Dean of Liberal Arts, Science, and Health Sciences. “As a College administrator and local resident, I regularly hear from people who share similar experiences with him. That shows the real impact that Professor Lambert has had on our local community over his four decades at SUNY Sullivan.”
SUNY Sullivan Foundation establishes The Thomas J. Lambert Memorial Fund to honor Professor Lambert’s legacy in Liberal Arts, Sciences, and Health Sciences.
