Troop 1095: Sullivan County’s First and Only All-Female Scout Troop

Posted on March 29, 2024March 29, 2024 by Tim Bruno

Did you know that Liberty is now home to Sullivan County’s first and only all-female Scout troop?

Originally established as an all-boys troop over a century ago, everything changed in 2019 with the official transition of the Boy Scouts of America to Scouts BSA. This change opened doors for girls to embark on the same scouting journey.

But what drove this historic change? What inspired the switch?

Today, Radio Catskill’s Leying Tang delves into the story of Troop 1095, speaking not only to the scouts themselves but also to the dedicated leaders who guide them.

Thank you for this! My daughter is in Troop 95 in Liberty and it’s such a great troop, so valuable for her and her fellow scouts. We love the values of scouting and the experiences that not many kids get these days.
