Troopers from State Police Wurtsboro responded to the single-vehicle collision at approximately 6:57 p.m. on March 9, 2026, near 482 Winterton Road.A preliminary investigation determined that a 2022 Nissan was traveling northbound on Winterton Road when the vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, crossed into the southbound lane, and exited the roadway on the western shoulder before striking a utility pole.

Both occupants were extricated from the vehicle. The operator, identified as Gary A. Burlew, 66, and the passenger, Jeffrey Burlew, 38, both of Bloomingburg, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by the Bloomingburg Fire Department and the Mamakating First Aid Squad.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
