KINGSTON, NY – Ulster County, the City of Kingston, and the City of Kingston Housing Task Force will host the region’s first-ever Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) Expo on Friday, April 10, from 12 noon – 6 PM at the Andy Murphy Midtown Neighborhood Center in Kingston.
The event will bring together homeowners, renters, builders, architects, designers, financial institutions, and policymakers to explore how accessory dwelling units — such as basement apartments, garage conversions, and small detached cottages — can expand housing options, generate rental income, and support aging in place.
Designed as the area’s first comprehensive ADU resource event, the Expo will feature 25 vendors under one roof, along with a full afternoon of expert talks beginning at 12:25 PM. Attendees can connect directly with builders and designers, learn about ADU permitting and financing, and hear about helpful programs including the Plus One ADU Home Program.
Participating vendors include Farrell Contracting, ThornHaus Construction, minimax, Brad’s Barns / Catskill MT. Cabins, Hudson Valley Modular Homes, Apex Modulars, Modern Shacks, ECHO Building Systems, Rondout Natural Builder, Rootd Modular Homes, and OneBuild.
Architects and designers participating include A Space Unfolds Architecture, Williams ReCraft, Mark Hinchcliff Design, The Elevated Studio, Nexus Creative Design, DEMO Architecture, and Lockwood Architecture PLLC.
Financial institutions include Ulster Savings Bank, Rondout Savings Bank, and the United States Senate Federal Credit Union.
Speaker Schedule:
12:25 PM – Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger offers brief remarks to open the event
12:30 PM – “Neighborhood Embedded Units: Rethinking ADUs Through Policy, Design, and Community” with John Fry and Jaclyn Tyler of Nexus Creative Design
