Posted on August 28, 2025 by Tim Bruno

KINGSTON, NY — Ulster County is set to celebrate its youth with the inaugural One Life Only Youth Event, a free, county-wide gathering designed to inspire positivity, creativity, and connection among young people. The event is organized by the Ulster County Youth Bureau and the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, with participation from local schools, youth organizations, and community partners.

The event will take place Saturday, September 6, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Dietz Stadium, 170 N. Front Street, Kingston. The public is invited to attend this family-friendly celebration.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including:

  • Live performances by the Energy Dance Company and a community drum circle facilitated by the Center for Creative Education.

  • Music by local youth band Pour la Terre.

  • Sports clinics and games including soccer, basketball, and dodgeball offered by the YMCA.

  • Fitness and martial arts demonstrations from One Strike Fitness and Julio Jackson.

  • Interactive games and activities for ages 3–18, including archery, carnival games, and a photo booth through My Kingston Kids.

  • Animal encounters with ponies from Sunrays Horse Rescue, a local nonprofit.

  • Free food provided by Hudson Valley Catering, including burgers, hot dogs, drinks, popcorn, and cotton candy.

  • Giveaways, T-shirts, and back-to-school supplies for attendees.

  • Recognition and awards, including Outstanding Youth 2025 Award nominations and youth performances.

More than 20 local youth organizations will participate, including Mohonk Preserve and Mental Health Respite, providing opportunities for connection, engagement, and fun. Support from Radio Kingston will provide stage and sound services to enhance the experience.

“This event is all about uplifting our youth and fostering a sense of community,” said Sugely Melenciano-Weed, Director of the Ulster County Youth Bureau. “We hope families and young people from across the county will join us for this exciting celebration.”
