Although accumulating snow has ended in parts of the listening area, roads and walkways remain icy and slippery. Occasional light snow and flurries are expected through the morning, and some locations have also reported spotty light freezing drizzle. Officials urge caution for anyone traveling or spending time outdoors, as temperatures will remain well below freezing.
For Ulster County, winter weather impacts are expected to continue through this evening. An additional 1 to 3 inches of snow is possible, bringing storm totals to 10 to 15 inches, with localized amounts of 15 to 20 inches across the eastern Catskills, Mid-Hudson Valley, and portions of western New England. Affected areas include northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts, southern Vermont, and eastern and east-central New York.
Travel conditions will remain hazardous early this morning due to snow-covered roads and reduced visibility, though gradual improvement is expected as the day goes on. Light to moderate snow will continue into the early to mid-morning hours before tapering to snow showers and flurries by late morning and afternoon. Breezy conditions later today could lead to some drifting snow, particularly in higher elevations.
Residents are encouraged to stay indoors until conditions improve. Those who must go outside should dress in layers and cover exposed skin to reduce the risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Travel should be delayed whenever possible, and motorists who must drive are advised to use extreme caution.
